The right way to Change a Tag Watch Battery

A new battery will have your Tag Heuer watch running again in no time.

Tag Heuer is a celebrated Swiss watchmaker that has been producing fine luxury watches since the 1800s. When the battery in your Tag Heuer watch dies, you can pay $50 or more to send it to the manufacturer for repair and wait several weeks for its return. Whether it is the cost of the watch repair or the separation from your beloved Tag that you find undesirable, you’ll be pleased to learn that you can replace your watch battery at home in just minutes.

Instructions

1 Adjust the tips of your three-tip watch case opening tool so that they correspond with the notches on the back of your Tag Heuer. Insert the tips of the case opening tool into the notches and tighten your grip. Apply pressure to both the watch and the case opening tool while simultaneously turning the watch clockwise. The watch’s back cover should easily separate from the rest of the case. Set it aside until your repairs are completed.

2 Look inside your Tag Heuer watch to locate the metal or plastic strap that holds the battery in place. Unscrew the small screws on either side of the battery strap, but don’t remove them. Swing the battery strap out to one side to reveal the battery; the sides of the battery strap are notched to make this possible.

3 Slide your optical-sized flathead screwdriver underneath the old battery and wiggle it to help pry the battery out. Replace the old battery with a brand new 394 battery. Replacement batteries are available for purchase from your local jewelry or retail store.

4 Cover the battery with the battery strap and tighten the screws to secure the battery and strap in place.

5 Replace the watch’s back cover and apply pressure to snap it into place. Congratulations on successfully changing the battery in your Tag Heuer watch.
